Style is more than just clothes. It is a way to express who we are, to feel confident, and to celebrate our unique bodies. As the founder and lead stylist of My Styling Academy, I have a clear vision: to help real women of all body shapes, sizes, and ages discover their personal style and embrace their beauty without limits. This blog post shares my journey, the mission behind My Styling Academy, and how we support women in transforming their relationship with fashion.

Why Real Women Deserve Real Style Support

Many style resources focus on narrow ideals—often young, slim, and conforming to a single body type. This leaves countless women feeling unseen or pressured to fit into styles that don’t suit them. My Styling Academy was born from the desire to change that narrative. I wanted to create a space where every woman feels valued and understood, where style advice is practical, inclusive, and tailored to real life.

Women’s bodies change over time. Life events, aging, and natural diversity mean no two women are the same. Style should celebrate that variety, not erase it. My goal is to provide tools and guidance that work for each individual’s shape, size, and lifestyle, helping women feel confident in their own skin.

How My Styling Academy Supports Every Woman

At My Styling Academy, we focus on education and empowerment. Here are some ways we make style accessible and enjoyable for all:

  • Personalized Style Assessments

We start by understanding each woman’s unique body shape, proportions, and personal preferences. This helps us recommend clothing cuts, fabrics, and colors that enhance natural features.

  • Body-Positive Styling Techniques

Instead of hiding or minimizing, we teach how to highlight strengths and create balance. For example, a pear-shaped woman might learn how to draw attention upward with statement necklaces or structured shoulders.

  • Age-Inclusive Fashion Advice

Style is timeless. We offer guidance that respects the wisdom and confidence that come with age, encouraging women to experiment and express themselves at every stage of life.

  • Practical Wardrobe Building

We focus on creating versatile wardrobes that fit real schedules and budgets. This includes mixing basics with statement pieces and learning how to layer for different occasions.

  • Confidence Coaching

Style is deeply connected to how we feel. We provide support to help women overcome insecurities and embrace their individuality through fashion.

My Personal Journey and Vision

Hi, my name is Myriam Steegmans. Before founding My Styling Academy, I lived and worked in several European countries. With over 25 years of experience as an interpreter and language teacher, I experienced cultural and regional differences first hand. As a mom of now 3 grown children, I often saw talented women struggle to find clothes that fit well or felt right for them. Many felt invisible or frustrated by the limited options available. This inspired me to create a different kind of styling experience—one that centers on real women’s needs and celebrates diversity.

My vision is to build a community where women support each other in their style journeys. I want every woman to know that style is not about fitting a mold but about expressing who she truly is. Through workshops, personal styling, and one-on-one coaching, My Styling Academy offers tools that empower women to take control of their style and feel proud of their bodies.

Practical Tips for Embracing Your Style at Any Size or Age

Here are some actionable tips I share with women to help them start their style transformation:

  • Know Your Body Shape

Understanding your body shape helps you choose clothes that fit well and flatter your figure. Common shapes often are a combination of hourglass, apple, pear, rectangle, and inverted triangle.

  • Choose Clothes That Fit Well

Fit is more important than size. A well-fitting garment enhances your silhouette and boosts confidence. Don’t hesitate to tailor pieces for a perfect fit.

  • Play with Colors and Patterns

Experiment with colors that complement your skin tone. Avoid overly usy pattern that easily become dated and can age you.

  • Invest in Key Pieces

Spend money on those items you need most in your actual life at the moment. Build a wardrobe around versatile staples like a great pair of jeans, a classic blazer, and comfortable shoes in a limited amount of base colours. These can be mixed and matched with trendier items.

  • Accessorize Thoughtfully

Accessories can transform an outfit. Use scarves, jewelry, belts, and bags to add personality and draw attention where you want it.

  • Dress for Your Lifestyle

Your style should fit your daily activities. Whether you work from home, attend social events, or care for family, choose clothes that make you feel comfortable and confident.

Stories of Transformation

One of the most rewarding parts of my work is seeing women transform through style. For example, a client in her 50s came to us feeling invisible and unsure about fashion. After personalized coaching, she discovered how to highlight her best features and express her vibrant personality. She now enjoys shopping and dressing with confidence, inspiring others around her.

Another client, a young mother with a pear-shaped body, learned how to balance proportions and find clothes that fit her changing figure. She appreciated the practical advice on mixing comfort with style, making her daily routine easier and more enjoyable.

These stories show that style is not about perfection but about feeling good in your own skin.

Looking Ahead: The Future of My Styling Academy

My Styling Academy will continue to grow and evolve to meet the needs of real women everywhere. Plans include expanding online courses, creating more inclusive style guides, and partnering with brands that share our values of diversity and authenticity.

My commitment remains the same: to help every woman feel seen, valued, and confident through style.
